Our Mission Expanded
Hope... We know its value in the States and within our personal lives. Those living in extreme poverty are much like us. They need a sense of hope, a reason to get up in the morning, a motivation for walking to work, for earning $1 an hour as their average income.
Through our efforts, we endeavor to stimulate hope, to enhance the hope that resides deep in the hearts of those who struggle for survival each day. By expanding their hope, they become more motivated to create a better life for themselves by means of our efforts.
Improve life... In the States, it's what we do; it's what we're expected to do as the years pass by. In some respects, it just happens because of the world in which we live.
But improving life when you live in poverty doesn't occur in the same manner. Until someone creates an avenue for change, improvement remains a remote possibility at best. Our efforts are designed to create an avenue that will enable them to improve their own lives and, thereby, make their better life sustainable beyond our initial presence.
Identifying the purpose of our abundance... By comparison, we, in the States, have an abundance. Compared to the rest of the world as a whole, we are very blessed. But why do we possess an abundance and others do not?
Ours exists so that we can learn the value of being generous and willing to share. We have an abundance for the purpose of blessing others and to realize how great it feels within as we touch hearts and change lives by sharing even a small portion of our abundance. When we understand why we are blessed, we recognize our opportunities to make a difference.
Implementing pathways... Our mission is to open doors for them, to create avenues so that they can create a better life for themselves. When they create it, they will also be determined to sustain it.
Our mission isn't to fix all that is broken, even though that would be a great misison, but to provide the tools necessary so they can fix what is broken and foresee a better future because of it.
